It is the main cemetery for the people of Medina since the time of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, where the remains of the people of Medina and those of neighbors and visitors who died there were buried or their bodies were transported over the past ages. At the forefront of them are the family of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and his honorable companions.
The tomb of the Master of Martyrs, Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib, the uncle of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, is located in the site currently called “Master of Martyrs’ Square,” which is the place that included one of the immortal battles at the beginning of Islamic history. It also includes the Mosque of the Master of Martyrs, the second largest mosque in Medina after the Prophet’s Mosque, as it expands. For 15 thousand worshipers, the cemetery is about 3 km north of the Prophet’s Mosque, adjacent to the base of Mount Uhud, and the battle was named after him.
